The basic directions of scientific work of the Department are basic, theoretical and experimental researches of new methods of conservative treatment of patients with orthopedic-trauma pathology and clinical trials of medicines and medical supplies.
The Department includes the Department of Physiotherapy, which began the history of the scientific unit.
The Physiotherapy Department was founded in 1926.
I. Teutyunnik, Ph.D headed the Physiotherapy Department from 1953 to 1960. The Head of Department was N. Savenko, Ph.D between 1961 and 1987. V. Makolinets, Prof. headed of Department from 1987 to 1995. During the 1995-2014 the Head of Department was A. Gaevskaya. From 2014 T. Grashchenkova, Ph.D heads the Physiotherapy Department.
Scientific research of sport-related injuries and neurological disorders after limb injuries conducted in the Department. The method of stimulation of osteogenesis was developed. In addition, the method of managing phantom pain was developed by the department staff. The method of stimulation of the neuromuscular apparatus was introduced.
In 1995 scientific department was founded, which V. Makolinets headed.
From March, 2017 Physiotherapy Department was converted into the Department of Conservative Treatment and Clinical Trials. It is headed I. Fedotova, Dr. Full. Prof.
