Main modern scientific and practical directions:<\/h4>\n

  • Development and improvement of modular spinal orthoses based on the express method. Production of orthoses for patients with diseases and injuries of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine with rational consideration of the level, nature and extent of spinal damage, age, constitution, physical condition of the patient, presence and severity of concomitant pathology, social and household factors;<\/li>\n
  • Development of designs and technologies for the manufacture of redressing express orthoses for the treatment of patients with contractures of the ankle, knee, elbow and finger joints;<\/li>\n
  • Development of a system and algorithm for quantitative assessment of the quality of orthosis for patients with spinal pathology and joint contractures, based on an objective determination of a rational compromise between clinical need, biomechanical feasibility of the orthosis on the spine or joint, and the patient’s physiological capabilities;<\/li>\n
  • Development of designs and manufacturing technologies for pelvic orthoses, orthopedic insoles and transport immobilization devices;<\/li>\n
  • Widespread use of methods of mathematical modeling of the interaction of biological and technical factors in the creation of orthopedic equipment;<\/li>\n
  • Development and improvement (on the basis of modern modules of permanent prostheses and materials) of designs and technologies for the manufacture of express prostheses for patients after amputations at the level of the foot, leg and thigh, with access to the postoperative wound and the ability to adjust the length and construction scheme of the prosthesis;<\/li>\n
  • Based on modern advances in materials science, analysis of design and technological, clinical experience and mathematical modeling of interaction between the living and the inanimate, creation of designs and technologies for the manufacture of individual vertebral implants and intervertebral discs of various sizes of the new generation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Biomaterials<\/h3>\n

    The laboratory, together with the institute’s clinicians and leading materials science research institutions in Kharkiv (PJSC UkrRFI named after A.S. Berezhnyi, Institute of Single Crystals of the National Academy of Sciences, National Technical University \u201cKharkiv Polytechnic Institute\u201d, Institute of Solid State Physics, Materials Science and Technology of the National Science Center \u201cKharkiv Institute of Physics and Technology of the National Academy of Sciences, etc. ) makes a significant contribution to the search, development of materials and designs of implants made of corundum ceramics, single crystals, and implant coatings. The need to apply modern high technologies has determined new content, new partners and new organizational forms of medical and technical research.<\/p>\n

    Over the past 5 years, on the initiative and with the participation of the laboratory, the clinic and the laboratory have developed 5 new original designs of artificial leucosapphire intervertebral disc endoprostheses and 4 sets of instruments for simple and convenient implantation of the developed designs and a method of endoprosthetics.<\/p>\n

    Based on the theory of functional systems of academician P.K. Anokhin, a new methodological basis for the rehabilitation of patients with limb amputation – the concept of \u201cpost-amputation disease\u201d – is theoretically substantiated and proposed. The factors of the triggering mechanism of the \u201cpost-amputation disease\u201d are determined: stress, hypodynamia and violation of biomechanical homeostasis. Surgical techniques for the formation of the stumps of the foot, leg and thigh with prosthetics of patients on the operating table (express prosthetics), as well as original designs of express prostheses with access to the postoperative wound and the ability to adjust the length of prostheses and the scheme of their construction have been developed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
