Anniversary Plenum Dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the All-Ukrainian Public Organisation “Ukrainian Association of Orthopaedic Traumatologists”

On 15 May 2026, the Anniversary Plenum dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the All-Ukrainian Public Organisation “Ukrainian Association of Orthopaedic Traumatologists” was held in Kyiv at the State Institution “Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”. Delegations from each regional branch, heads of departments of traumatology and orthopaedics, and other guests were invited to attend.
The delegation from the Kharkiv Regional Branch of the Ukrainian Association of Orthopaedic Traumatologists included: Chairman of the Branch, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Professor Volodymyr Filipenko; members of the Board Professor Volodymyr Tankut, Honoured Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Head of the Department at Kharkiv National Medical University, Professor Mykola Korzh, and others.
During the ceremonial part of the event, our delegation congratulated the President of the Ukrainian Association of Orthopaedic Traumatologists, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Professor Serhii Strafun, and presented commemorative gifts: books and a portrait of Professor Mykhailo Sytenko, founder of the Republican Society of Orthopaedic Traumatologists and its first Chairman, elected in 1936 at the First Orthopaedic Congress of Ukraine, which was also organised on the initiative of M. I. Sytenko.
An extremely interesting historical presentation entitled “The Fundamental Contribution of the Kharkiv Scientific School of Orthopaedic Traumatologists to the Establishment and Development of the Ukrainian Association of Orthopaedic Traumatologists” was delivered by Professor V. A. Filipenko.
Professor V. A. Filipenko, Professor V. O. Tankut and Professor M. O. Korzh were awarded the Honour Distinction of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine and Certificates of Honour for their significant contribution to the development of orthopaedic and trauma care services in Ukraine.
