25 March 2026 A meeting was held with the heads and medical directors of state institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, which took place in a hybrid format — offline and online. The online format enabled scientific institutions from other cities of Ukraine, including Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipro and Lviv, to participate.

Chaired by:

• Vasyl Lazoryshynets — President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine;
• Viktoriia Vahnier — Member of Parliament of Ukraine, Member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Public Health, Medical Care and Medical Insurance;
• Serhii Siromakha — Head of the Department of Clinical Work and Interaction with the National Health Service of Ukraine.

Main issue

The main topic of the meeting was the capacity of state institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine to provide specialised medical care under changes in the healthcare system, taking into account the specifics of contracting under the Medical Guarantees Programme.

Reports were presented by heads of state institutions and medical directors, who outlined their developments and vision for the further functioning of institutions, particularly in terms of financing and capacity in 2026, with the aim of preserving human resources and property potential.

Each presentation was discussed, and heads of institutions were given the opportunity to express their views and proposals.

In particular, developments from the following institutions were presented:

• SI “Institute of Blood Pathology and Transfusion Medicine of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” (Lviv)
• SI “Institute of Urology named after Academician O.F. Vozianov of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”
• SI “Institute of Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases named after L.V. Hromashevskyi of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”
• SI “National Scientific Centre of Phthisiology, Pulmonology and Allergology named after F.H. Yanovskyi of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”
• SI “All-Ukrainian Centre for Motherhood and Childhood of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”
• SI “Institute of Dentistry and Maxillofacial Surgery of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” (Odesa)
• SI “Institute of Dermatology and Venereology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” (Kharkiv)
• SI “Institute for Children and Adolescents Health Care of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine” (Kharkiv)
• SI “National Scientific Centre ‘Institute of Cardiology, Clinical and Regenerative Medicine named after Academician M.D. Strazhesko of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine’”
• SI “National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedics of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”
• SI “Institute of Otolaryngology named after Professor O.S. Kolomiichenko of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”
• SI “Institute of Gerontology named after D.F. Chebotariov of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”
• SI “Scientific and Practical Centre of Endovascular Neuroradiology of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine”

Viktoriia Vahnier emphasised the importance of preserving Ukrainian medical science and the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine as an integral component, which is crucial for maintaining the human and property potential of institutions.

The President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Academician Vasyl Lazoryshynets, informed that by Friday, 27 March 2026, 12:00, heads of institutions must submit their written proposals regarding their capacity to provide specialised medical care under changes in the healthcare system, taking into account the specifics of contracting under the Medical Guarantees Programme.

In conclusion, the President of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine thanked the heads of state institutions of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine for their productive work.
