Dear colleagues! We invite you to attend 19 Minimal Invasive Spinal Surgery Symposium. Successful development of the spinal surgery in Ukraine during recent years is the result of dedicated work and activity of ISMISS Members. Geography and number of clinical centers where modern spinal surgeries are used increase all the time. Educational centers for spinal surgery are founded at spinal surgery and neurosurgery institutions.
The second International Conference “Advanced Treatment of Hip, Knee and Shoulder Pathology” which is to be held on Оctober 15-16, 2021 in Kharkiv, Ukraine.
This two-day event, with the participation of high-profile Ukrainian and international experts, includes symposiums and sessions on innovative approaches to treating major joint pathologies – from reconstructive surgery to revision arthroplasty, discussions of complex cases associated with complications of total joint replacement, diagnosis and treatment options for periprosthetic joint infection. A special feature of this year’s conference is that it covers treatment of shoulder joint pathologies, also the program includes practical workshops with the possibility of personal communication with high level experts on a number of issues connected with total joint replacement.

MI Sytenko NAMS of Ukraine “deeply mourns the death of a prominent scientist, head of the Department of Physiology and Pathology of the musculoskeletal system, President of the Ukrainian Association of Osteoporosis, Honored Worker of Science and Technology of Ukraine, Professor Vladislav Vladimirovich POVOROZNYUK.
For many years, Vladislav Volodymyrovych and I had scientific interests and warm, friendly relations. We knew and deeply respected Vladislav Vladimirovich both as a talented scientist, an experienced doctor, and as a good, sincere man. Vladyslav Volodymyrovych devoted his whole life to medical science and treatment of sick people. He made a great contribution to the development of medicine, cured thousands of patients who are grateful to him for his life and health, and brought up a whole galaxy of young scientists. The memory of Vladislav Vladimirovich will remain in our hearts for a long time. His death is a heavy loss for the entire Ukrainian scientific community.

Raisa Mikhailovna’s whole life was connected with the Institute named after prof. E. Small. Here she went from a nurse to a leading surgeon, defended her dissertation. R.M. Mezentseva performed complex operations on limb amputation, express prosthetics for patients with pathology of large joints. For significant success in the treatment of this pathology, Raisa Mikhailovna was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor. His rich experience, his deep knowledge of R.M. Mezentseva passed on to young orthopedic traumatologists and brought up many wonderful specialists who will keep the memory of Raisa Mikhailovna for a long time.
We are deeply saddened by the heavy loss and express our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Raisa Mikhailovna.

One of the oldest employees of the institute, laureate of the State Prize of Ukraine, Professor Bohdan Ilyich Simenach, died on October 7 at the age of 100.
Bogdan Ilyich was born on June 20, 1921 in the village of Synevidne, Skole district, Lviv region. In 1947 he graduated from the Lviv Medical Institute. He worked as the chief physician of the district hospital, served in the Soviet Army, and in 1966 – 2010 he worked at the Institute. E. Small. Bogdan Ilyich studied the problems of orthopedic arthrology, the genesis and treatment of hereditary joint diseases, the theory of orthopedic science. He was one of the best specialists in Ukraine in the field of diagnosis and treatment of knee pathology. For the development of methods of surgical interventions on the joints, Professor BI Simenach in 1996 received the State Prize of Ukraine. He raised many students and established his own scientific school.

Teams of the Sytenko Institute of Spine and Joint Pathology National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine, Kharkiv Medical Academy for Post-graduate Education and Kharkiv Medical Society are deeply saddened by the death of a prominent orthopedist-traumatologist, well-known academician LOBENKO Anatolii Oleksandrovych.
For many years we were connected with Anatolii Oleksandrovych by creative, friendly relations. We highly valued and deeply respected Anatolii Oleksandrovych both as a talented scientist who made a great contribution to the development of medical science and founded a new direction – marine medicine, and as a kind, sensitive person. The memory of Anatoly Alexandrovich will always live in our hearts. His death is a heavy loss for the entire medical community of Ukraine.
